I am grateful to the Floridata website for the following information: Pineapple sage grows naturally in oak and pine scrub forests at elevations from 8,000-10,000 ft (2,438-3,048 m) in Mexico and Guatemala.
I had always assumed it was a cultivar. Certainly it would welcome a woodland setting - the brittle twigs break in the slightest breeze here.
But worth it for the colour at this season (November). |
